Cost of living in Peru
 
 
 

Peru has average costs of living compared to other Latin American countries. It’s cheaper than Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia or Chile, but more expensive than Bolivia or Paraguay. Lima has the highest living costs in Peru, together with the city of Cusco. In general, services, food, transport, lodging and clothes are cheaper than in Europe. But technical and electronic products, as well as imported food and clothes are more expensive than in their countries of origin.

The currency
The money used in Peru is the Nuevo Sol (S/.). There wasn’t much variation in the currency rate of Euros to Soles during the last years. In average, 4.00 S/. = 1 Euro.The dollar however lost a lot of it’s value in the recent past. In average, 2.85 S/. = 1 Dollar.
